A pencil is a small piece of equipment — until you need one and can’t find it.
Whether you’re recording fouls, scores, player numbers, timeouts, or the details of a game that suddenly gets more interesting than expected, a pencil is one of those things an official doesn’t think much about — until it’s missing.
The Referee Bullet Pencil Pack by Don Stripes takes the familiar bullet pencil and reusable shield and improves the part that matters most: the shield itself.
Our reusable pencil shield features longitudinal ridges for a more secure grip, even when your hands are wet. A durable clip helps keep it attached to your pocket or scorecard, while heat- and UV-resistant plastic is designed to hold up through the realities of long seasons, hot cars, and regular use.
And because pencils eventually get lost, worn down, or borrowed by someone who promises they’ll give it back, we include five pre-sharpened HB pencils instead of just one.
One reusable shield. Five pencils. Five erasers.
Everything you need to keep a pencil where you need it — and replacements ready when you don’t.

The Don Stripes Difference
Designed by officials who notice the little things.
The standard bullet pencil is a simple idea. We didn’t see any reason to reinvent it.
We did see an opportunity to improve the part you use every time you pick it up.
A smooth shield can be harder to grip with wet hands. A weak clip can leave your pencil somewhere between the last play and the next one. And plastic that spends an entire season riding around in a hot car needs to be able to handle it.
So we redesigned the shield with longitudinal grip ridges, a secure clip, and heat- and UV-resistant plastic.
Then we included five pre-sharpened pencils, because a reusable shield is only useful if you have another pencil ready when the first one is gone.
A simple tool. Thoughtfully improved.
